The services available through these programs feature many alternatives. These choices allow the consumer and the payer the opportunity to customize their health care plan with complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) benefits.  Below are the choices available to you and to your members. 

 The Discount Program 

The Discount Program is not an insured benefit, but a discount program that allows you to receive complementary and alternative medical services and products at reduced prices.  The Discount Program gives cardholders a discount of up to 25% by accessing the network of providers.  We have negotiated these discounts for you in order that you may save money when utilizing these services.  There are no claim forms and no restrictions on the utilization of these services.  This can be offered for just pennies per member per month (pmpm).

 The CAM Rider  

The addition of this rider to the health plan will allow members to receive the same services as with the Discount Program but as a covered benefit.  The CAM Rider offers   coverage for acupuncture, chiropractic, naturopathic medicine, massage therapy and a natural drug formulary, along with the discounts offered form our retail stores and services.  This can be provided by an access fee (pmpm) or as a percentage of utilization.

The Integrated Benefit

We encourage employers and health plans to integrate complementary and alternative medicine into their traditional medical benefits.  Alternative Healthcare Options is capable of managing this integration through education and establish utilization treatment protocols of CAM services.  This also can be provided with an access fee (pmpm) or on a capitated (pmpm) risk sharing basis where permitted by state law.
